Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply when you use this website or ask Shelter Bakersfield Insulation Company to look at, quote or work on your home or building. By using the site, requesting an estimate or scheduling work with us, you agree to them.
If a written estimate or contract we give you for a specific job says something different from this page, the written estimate or contract controls for that job. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the site or book work with us. You can always contact us first with questions.
What we do
We're an insulation contractor in Bakersfield, CA, and we work in Bakersfield and the cities around it. Our work includes attic, wall, crawl space and basement insulation, blown-in insulation, which is loose fill blown through a hose, spray foam, insulation removal, air sealing and vapor barriers. The home page lists every service, and our about page explains who we are.
What we'll do on your job is limited to what's written in your estimate or contract. Anything we find once we're up in the attic or under the house, such as wet or contaminated old insulation, pest damage or blocked vents, may need a change to the scope, and we'll talk it through with you before doing extra work.
Estimates and pricing
We give free estimates at your property, with no obligation to hire us. An estimate is based on what we can see and measure on the visit, including the size of the space, how much insulation is already there, its condition, how easy the space is to reach and which material you choose.
Your estimate is good for the period written on it. After that, prices may change because material costs change. Any information on this website about how jobs are priced is general and isn't a quote for your home.
If conditions turn out different from what we could see during the estimate, we'll stop, show you what we found and get your approval in writing or by text or email before any change in price.
Scheduling, access and cancellation
We'll agree on a start date with you and do our best to keep it, but weather, material deliveries, earlier jobs running long and conditions we find on site can push a date back. If we have to reschedule, we'll let you know as early as we can.
You agree to give our crew safe access to the work area and to clear stored items from the attic, garage or crawl space entry as we ask, so we can work without damaging your things. Some jobs, especially spray foam, require you, your kids and your pets to stay out of the house for a set time, and we'll tell you before the job when you can come back inside. Please follow that guidance for your own safety.
If you need to cancel or move your appointment, call us at (661) 377-0037 as soon as you know. If we've already ordered special materials for your job or started work, you may owe for those costs, as set out in your estimate or contract.
Payment
Payment terms for your job, including any deposit and when the balance is due, are written in your estimate or contract. Unless it says otherwise, the balance is due when the work is complete.
If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's settled. You're responsible for reasonable costs we have to pay to collect an unpaid balance, to the extent California law allows.
Our guarantee and warranties
We're licensed and fully insured, and we stand behind our work. If something about the installation isn't right, call us and we'll come back to look at it and make it right.
Any written warranty on your job will be stated in your contract. Insulation, foam and barrier products also carry their makers' own warranties, which we pass along to you, and those warranties are the makers' to honor under their terms.
Apart from what's written in your contract and the makers' warranties, we don't promise any particular result, such as a specific drop in your power bill or a specific temperature in a room. How much you notice depends on things outside our work, including your HVAC system, windows, ductwork and how you use your home. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all other warranties, express or implied.
Limits on our liability
To the extent California law allows, Shelter Bakersfield Insulation Company isn't responsible for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost use of your home, lost income or higher utility costs, that come from our work or this website.
We're also not responsible for damage caused by conditions that existed before we started and that we couldn't reasonably see, such as hidden roof leaks, old wiring or framing problems, or by work done by others after we leave. Our total liability for any claim about a job won't be more than the amount you paid us for that job. Nothing here limits any right you have that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Using this website
The information on this site is general and meant to help you understand insulation work. It isn't professional advice for your home until we've seen it in person.
We try to keep the site accurate and current, but we don't promise it's free of errors or always available. The text, photos and design on the site belong to us, and you may not copy them for commercial use without our permission.
Resolving a disagreement
If you're unhappy with anything, please call us first at (661) 377-0037 or reach us through our contact page. Most problems get sorted out quickly once we're back on site and can see what you're seeing.
If we can't settle it that way within 30 days, either of us may take the matter to the courts serving Kern County, California, including small claims court when the amount qualifies.
Which law applies
These terms and any work we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to rules that would apply another state's law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted here is the one that applies when you use the site. Changes won't affect a signed estimate or contract for work already agreed, unless we both agree in writing.
Questions about these terms
If anything here is unclear, call us at (661) 377-0037. We answer Mon–Sun, 8 AM–9 PM. You can also send a message through our contact page, and we reply within 1 business day.
